Rana McKay Professor of Medicine and Urology at UC San Diego Health Co-leader of the GU Oncology Program at Moores Cancer Center As Co-Chair of VIRO, Dr. Rana McKay (University of California, San Diego) opened the congress with her talk on  “Future Directions: Emerging Agents and Combinations.” She emphasized the momentum in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) research, highlighting how novel immunotherapies, targeted drugs, and rational combination strategies are reshaping patient care. Dr. McKay underscored the importance of personalized, biomarker-driven approaches and global collaboration, aiming to optimize survival and quality of life worldwide.

Dr. Kapur is a Professor of Pathology at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

At the Global Voices in Renal Oncology (VIRO) Virtual Congress 2025, Dr. Kapur will present on “Pathologic Evaluation of Variant Histologies in RCC.” Her presentation will cover:

• Diagnostic challenges and criteria in identifying variant histologies of renal cell carcinoma.
• The development and application of immunohistochemical tests for key biomarkers.
