“Social Prescribing Day – March 19th, 2025.

Today, on Social Prescribing Day, we celebrate a holistic, person-centred approach to health that connects individuals with non-medical community resources to enhance their well-being!

In an increasingly overwhelming world, social prescribing tackles health-related issues that medicine alone cannot. It empowers people to address factors, such as:

– Stress (leading cause of various serious health risks)
– Anxiety
– Isolation/Loneliness

On the occasion of this day, Hellenic Cancer Federation | ELLOK is thrilled to be a part of the Social Prescribing and Civic Engagement (SPACE) project! Bringing together the expertise of 8 organisations from throughout Europe, SPACE merges the benefits of social prescribing with those of volunteering to create a supportive environment for people with health and rehabilitation needs.

What’s different about SPACE?

We put a special focus on cancer care. For cancer survivors, social prescribing can be especially helpful, as it can support and improve their mental health and the need for a sense of purpose after treatment.

In the framework of the project, this week we are launching the SPACE website – a comprehensive resource centre that will feature:

– Expertise and practices from countries that are leaders in social prescribing and volunteering
– Training modules for healthcare, social care and rehabilitation professionals working in the field
– Volunteering opportunities
– Personal experiences
– …and so much more!
