Przemyslaw Biecek: Lung Cancer Policy Network meeting was focused on the screening program for lung cancer in several EU countries
Przemyslaw Biecek, Founder of Solutions42.ai, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I attended the Lung Cancer Policy Network meeting today, which was focused on the screening program for lung cancer in several EU countries (the silent killer).
One comment by Professor Mariusz Adamek was very memorable for me.
In a dream scenario, the screening programme could cover 100x more people than now (e.g. 3 million instead of 30,000).
To which Professor Anna Kerpel-Fronius noted that a limitation is the availability of radiologists. No way available radiologists are asked to do 100x more work for screening.
This leads to the conclusion that screening programs need automation and safe, transparent, and trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (and therefore also one that we are building in the xLungs project at MI2.ai founded by The National Centre for Research and Development).
I appreciate the support for this programme from both the Polish government (represented by Henryka Krzywonos- Strycharska) and representatives of the EU Cacer Mission Board (represented by Penilla Gunther).
And waiting for the results from the SOLACE program led by professor Joanna Chorostowska.”
