Lucy Harutyunyan: January 23th is the International BPDCN Day
Lucy Harutyunyan, Hematologist at Yeolyan Oncology and Hematology Center, shared on LinkedIn:
“International Blastic Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cell Neoplasm (BPDCN) Day is TODAY!
BPDCN is a rare disorder. Almost 80% of patients develop skin lesions, mainly located in the head and face. They can have enlarged lymph nodes, fever, weight loss and other symptoms, but most importantly the life duration of these patients remains low even nowadays. In later stages it is affecting bone marrow and the central nervous system.
As with any rare disease, there are limited data and treatment options for BPDCN currently, and this gap is being addressed by the International BPDCN registry founded by the Immune Oncology Research Institute and Dr Astghik Voskanyan, that has already included a few dozens of cancer centers from around the world.
We invite researchers, clinicians, and institutions to join us in this collaborative effort. By pooling our knowledge and resources, we can make significant strides in understanding and combating BPDCN. Together, we can offer hope to patients and families affected by this challenging disease.
For more information or to participate in the registry, please visit our website.”
