David Dellamonica: Take charge of your health – The importance of colorectal cancer screening

David Dellamonica, Global Head of Precision Digital Healthcare at AstraZeneca, shared a post on LinkedIn:

Take charge of your health: The importance of colorectal cancer screening.

Today, I underwent a colonoscopy – a simple yet critical step in maintaining health and preventing colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer worldwide, but it is highly preventable with regular screening.
Statistics show that early detection can lead to a 90% survival rate. However, only 50-60% of eligible adults in many regions undergo this life-saving examination.

Both the American Cancer Society (ACS) and the ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology recommend regular screenings (Skin, Breast, Prostate, Lung…etc) starting at age 45-50 (or earlier for those at higher risk).

Colonoscopy isn’t just a medical procedure – it’s an opportunity to take control of your health and potentially save your life. If you’re eligible and haven’t scheduled yours yet, now is the time!

Let’s break the stigma and start conversations about the importance of cancer prevention. Together, we can work toward earlier diagnoses and better outcomes.

Have you had your screening? Let’s encourage each other to prioritize prevention.”
