Baligh Yehia: Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center – Jefferson Health has been named a National Cancer Institute

“Today, Jefferson announced that the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center – Jefferson Health has been named a National Cancer Institute (NCI) ‘Comprehensive’ Cancer Center’, the highest recognition awarded by the NCI to only two percent of cancer centers across the country.
This designation will afford Jefferson Health greater opportunities to translate groundbreaking research and discoveries into cutting-edge care and lifesaving cancer treatments in the diverse communities we serve.
This is a testament to not only the exceptional care the center provides, but also its demonstrated progress in clinical trial enrollment, work to address health disparities in our neighborhoods, and extensive community engagement to increase access to preventive cancer screenings.
I couldn’t be more proud of the entire team of researchers, clinicians, and administrators, led by Dr. Andrew Chapman, and I look forward to seeing how this new designation will reduce the cancer burden and improve health outcomes throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey.”
