Carmen Uscatu: Compassion means empathy in action
Carmen Uscatu, President at Give Life, shared a post on LinkedIn: .
“The Civil Society Gala.
The Grand Prize for We Build A Hospital.
Compassion means empathy in action.
And that is exactly how this project was built.
350,000 people and 8,000 companies donated by putting themselves in the shoes of a parent that one day finds out something no parent should ever hear: that their child has cancer. Or maybe by putting themselves in the shoes of a child who has to put their childhood on hold because they have to start chemotherapy. Or in the shoes of a doctor who doesn’t have the right conditions to operate on a patient.
Empathy. Sometimes you don’t have it implicitly. But you can learn it. How? By training. And that’s exactly what our donors did. They put themselves in the shoes of someone else and they donated. They made it happen.
In whose shoes are you going to put yourself tomorrow when you wake up?
At Civil Society Gala, we, Give Life won 3 prizes.
We renovated the adult Oncology department at Elias Hospital and won 2nd prize.
For the We Build A Hospital project, we won two prizes: 1st prize in the Health Section and the Grand Prize.
I’m proud of my team and I’m proud of all the people who are making the world better by being compassionate.”
