Richard Shadyac: Russell Weiner and friends at Domino’s made history in Las Vegas

“Yesterday in Las Vegas, CEO Russell Weiner and our compassionate, purpose-driven friends at Domino’s made history — the kind of history that will make a profound difference in the lives of seriously ill kids everywhere: An extension of its fundraising commitment to the St. Jude mission to $300 million by 2034 — the largest-ever corporate or private financial commitment to a children’s hospital.

We are in awe.

And we are so incredibly grateful.

I was honored to share that gratitude with Russell and some 9,000 members of the global Domino’s family at their Worldwide Rally in Las Vegas this week. This commitment raises the bar for what corporate social responsibility and a culture of caring can look like. Domino’s has been a dedicated St. Jude partner for 21 years and, in that time, 6,700 participating locations have raised more than $126 million for our mission. Domino’s does so much for our mission, and its innovation and forward-thinking also allows everyone to live charitably by simply rounding up their purchase price on one of the most everyday things they’ll do — ordering a pizza.

The generosity of Domino’s is evident all throughout our campus. Just last fall, in fact, we opened The Domino’s Village right here in Memphis. This is a $110 million facility of 140 apartments where patient families of all sizes live while in treatment at St. Jude. It’s an amazing amenity that truly helps families stay together and heal together.

We’re so grateful to Russell, the worldwide franchisees, and the entire Domino’s family for all they do to support this mission and help St. Jude save the lives and change the lives of kids and families everywhere. ”
