Launching the 10th LuCE Report: Marking a Decade of Evidence from Lived Experience
Lung Cancer Europe shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Cancer costs are rising fast. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD – OCDE), which brings together 38 mainly high-income countries, including much of Europe, projects that per capita cancer spending will increase by 67% by 2050.
For people with lung cancer, financial strain is already a reality.
Our 8th LuCE Report on the financial impact of lung cancer found:
- 1 in 3 spend over 20% of their household income on expenses relating to lung cancer – a level defined as catastrophic
- 62.9% saw their household income drop after diagnosis
- 82% said financial difficulties were a barrier to treatment and care
LuCE conducts and publishes its annual reports to uncover the challenges experienced by people with lung cancer and to push for meaningful change in policy and practice.
Next month at ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology on 18 October, we launch our 10th Report, marking a decade of evidence from lived experience.”
