July Volunteer Spotlight: Highlighting Kim Adair – ACS CAN
American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“For our July Volunteer Spotlight, we are thrilled to highlight Kim Adair, Legislative Ambassador with ACS CAN Arizona and a Colorectal Cancer survivor!
Kim originally became aware of ACS CAN in Colorado from a friend who was a volunteer. Sadly, her friend passed away from cancer, and Kim now volunteers in her memory.
Recently, Kim had been working with her volunteer team in Arizona to prepare for a meeting with their congressman about the importance of protecting Medicaid. They presented the congressman’s office with petition signatures from across the state, which emphasized the need for access to affordable health care, especially for cancer patients. “We felt truly heard – and hopeful that our voices could help protect essential health care access in Arizona.”
While Congress voted to cut Medicaid, Kim believes we must continue to speak out and advocate to lawmakers about issues that matter most, like access to health care.
‘Our voices matter! It’s not only our right – but our responsibility – to speak up about health care. Advocacy allows us to stand together and demand the care and support that every patient deserves. The fight isn’t over, and I’ll continue raising my voice until it is.’ ”
