Timothy Rebbeck: The Impact of Cancer Research Cuts
Timothy Rebbeck, Vincent L. Gregory Jr. Professor of Cancer Prevention at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The consequences of cancer research budget cuts this year (see graph, from WIRED) will devastate our ability to prevent and cure cancer. The National Cancer Institute is projecting that only 4% of submitted grants will be funded.
(For comparison, when I received my first NCI grant the funding rate was near 30%). Investments our country has made over many years will be wasted and American lives will be lost.”
