Strengthening Pediatric Cancer Care in Southeast Europe – Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology
Princess Máxima Center for Pediatric Oncology shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Strengthening pediatric cancer care in Southeast Europe
Earlier this month, a team from the Princess Máxima Center visited our partner centers in North Macedonia, Kosovo, and Albania. A week filled with inspiring meetings: with dedicated medical teams, hospital directors, and the Ministers of Health of all three countries.
Our shared mission: to strengthen regional collaboration so that children with cancer can receive high-quality care in their own country. They only travel to the Netherlands for highly specialized parts of treatment not available—returning home for the rest of their care.
The visit also marked the official launch of our partnership with the University Clinic for Children’s Diseases in Skopje, North Macedonia. This collaboration focuses among others on training, diagnostics, shared protocols, and access to clinical trials.
We are grateful for the warm welcome, the enthusiasm of our colleagues, and the commitment of the ministries to improve care across borders.
Step by step, we are building sustainable pediatric oncology capacity in the region, for the region.”
