Young Cancer Survivor’s Resilient Journey
Eugene A. Woods, Chief Executive Officer at Advocate Health, posted on LinkedIn:
“When people ask me why I believe health care is one of the highest forms of service, I point them to stories like Ian Richardson’s.
At age 28, Ian came to Atrium Health Levine Cancer for treatment after he found out he had lymphoma. A cancer diagnosis sends a shockwave through any patient’s life. And Ian and his wife persevered through many ups and downs as he underwent numerous interventions: surgeries, chemotherapy, a donor stem cell transplant, and CAR T-cell therapy. Through it all, Ian and his wife found hope, strength, and friendship with Dr. Ryan Jacobs, the hematology-oncology specialist who went above and beyond to care for Ian and to ultimately find the cutting-edge treatment that would work best for him.
I’m glad to say that Ian has been in remission for over a year, and he and his wife are making life’s happiest plans for the future… I encourage you all to watch this short video and see what it means when we say that “from discovery to everyday moments, we’re redefining care – for you, for us, for all.”
