Christos Tsagkaris: Virtually at the Annual Conference of the Hellenic Cancer Federation
Christos Tsagkaris, Resident Doctor at Kinderspital Zürich, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Virtually in Athens for the Annual Conference of the Hellenic Cancer Federation (ELLOK).
My message to the conference assembly on the occasion of the World Cancer Day:
Patients with cancer and their communities are the true measure of progress in the field. Their access to advancements defines the progress’s value, and their lived experience drives meaningful, pragmatic change.
This year’s conference, emphasizing the need to place humans at the (epi)center of cancer care, reflects the goals of the EU Cancer Mission, aligns with the efforts of the Institute of Cancer and Crisis to enhance cancer care for populations affected by conflict and natural disasters, and perfectly sets the stage for ELLOK’s mandate as the ECHoS – Establishing of Cancer Mission Hubs: Networks and Synergies – Greek National Cancer Mission Hub.
Congratulations for the great event and the efforts behind it to George Kapetanakis and his team. Happy to have shared the (virtual) floor with Prof. Gerasimos Siasos, Cary Adams, Fabrice Andre, Eduardo Pisani.
*not entirely mine, I have creatively adapted Protagora’s principle of humanism, a text that accompanied me in my school years, ‘Of all things the measure is Man: of things that are, how they are, and of things that are not, how they are not’ (Plato, Theaetus 160d).”
