Nermean Mostafa: Cervical Cancer Awareness: Prevention and Early Detection
Nermean Mostafa, Head of Clinical Oncology Unit at Ain shams University, posted the following on LinkedIn:
“January is Cervical cancer awareness month
Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer, after breast cancer, to affect women aged 15–44 years .
Cervical cancer is preventable and treatable when detected early. Prevention strategies include:
Receiving the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine
Getting regular Pap smears and HPV tests
Avoiding smoking.
These steps, combined with routine screenings, can dramatically lower the risk of developing cervical cancer.
On this Occasion,It was great honor to organize an awareness session for medical students of faculty of medicine Ain Shams University about importance of prevention and screening of cervix cancer with Prof .Amr Elhussieny head of Obstetrics and Gynecology department at Faculty of Medicine Ain Shams university.”
