Neil Ranasinghe: An inspiring story about a childhood survivor of bone cancer

Neil Ranasinghe, Lead Technical Author at London Stock Exchange, shared a post on LinkedIn by Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group, adding:

“You hear the word ‘inspiring’ used a lot but this really is an inspiring story about a childhood survivor of bone cancer. Some survivors of childhood cancer see these stories and feel inadequate as they aren’t doing anything like that.

My message to all survivors of childhood cancer, try not to compare yourself with anyone. Just being you, however you are, is brilliant. You have been through so much.”

Quoting Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG)’s post:

” ‘I was just 16 years old when, to save my life, I had my right leg amputated above the knee due to osteosarcoma.’

Sarah Dransfield was diagnosed with bone cancer in March 2012 aged 16.

In our latest issue of Contact magazine, she tells us what helped her during and after treatment and how cancer has changed her outlook on life.
