Jennifer Douglas: The radiation journey has come to a close
Jennifer Douglas, Writer and DCIS Breast Cancer Patient Advocate, posted on LinkedIn:
“The radiation journey has come to a close. As we find ways to celebrate the ending of this treatment, the healing begins. Seven weeks of radiation have taken their toll on the skin— decimating the cancer and the surrounding areas. The medical team shared that it will likely take as long to heal as it did to cause. There are more appointments and future scans to verify the success of the treatment.
Cancer treatment wasn’t something we anticipated as a young married couple 24 years ago— but we vowed to be together through sickness and health. Faith and love have sustained us. This year has had many unanticipated challenges. We have spent much time investing in our relationship, which has paid off dividends as we have walked through dark valleys.
Looking forward to more beautiful times of vacation and fewer doctor’s appointments! And, thank you to vene photo for capturing moments in time we can cherish during our anniversary trip to Venice this past April.”
