The iCMLf Prize ceremony for Viji Venkatesh, Regional Head for India and South Asia at The Max Foundation, was one such occasion. This award recognizes her outstanding contributions to advancing cancer care and patient support, particularly in low-resource settings.

The award was presented by Professor Giuseppe Saglio at ESHCML 2024, who praised Viji’s dedication to cancer care, noting her ‘passion and caring attitude not only towards patients, but towards entire communities and every person she encounters.’

Viji’s humble nature shone through as she expressed her gratitude, saying she felt privileged to be in a room with so many individuals committed to providing CML patients with what they deserve — access to the best possible treatment.

During her inspiring and heartfelt keynote speech, she emphasized the collaborative efforts that have transformed CML from a once fatal condition into a manageable disease, and the ongoing work to provide patients with the best possible care in all parts of the world.
