Priscilla Chan: Scientists at the San Francisco Biohub have developed imaging techniques to watch zebrafish embryos develop from a tiny fertilized egg in real time.

In a post by Priscilla Chan, the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, on LinkedIn, it says:

“Scientists at the San Francisco Biohub have developed imaging techniques to watch zebrafish embryos develop from a tiny fertilized egg in real time. Combining this imaging technology with single-cell tools, Loïc Royer and Merlin Lange’s team have created a comprehensive cell atlas of zebrafish embryonic development called Zebrahub.

Zebrafish are a great model to understand human biology because they’re biologically similar to humans, with a lot of shared disease genetics. Plus, their embryos are transparent, allowing scientists to easily track changes in cells. Resources like Zebrahub are helping scientists understand how our own tissues and organs develop.”
