Alexis Sakhel: Have you heard of the 80/20 paradox?
Alexis Sakhel,
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, shared on LinkedIn:“Have you heard of the 80/20 paradox? In pediatric oncology, 80% of the world’s children geographically live where survival of cancer is 20% or less, while 20% are fortunate enough to live in higher-income countries with overall cancer survival rates ranging between 80-90%.
I am grateful to work toward closing this gap in access to pediatric cancer care by serving as an Independent Contractor at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, supporting the Eastern Mediterranean region of their Global Pediatric Medicine department.
I am humbled to work on an incredible and compassionate team that prioritizes global medicine and ensures that every child, regardless of geographic location, has access to equitable and high quality cancer care.”
