David Dellamonica: Shaping the Future of Healthcare with AI at ESC 2025
David Dellamonica, Global Head Digital Precision Healthcare at AstraZeneca, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Four years ago, when I joined AstraZeneca, my focus shifted almost entirely to oncology. Along the way, I lost touch with the cardiology world, a field I’ve always admired for its exceptional data quality, the complexity of prevention, and the deep collaboration with tech companies.
Back in 2022, I co-authored a pioneering study with my friends Adrien Rousset and Thomas Clozel, re-analyzing an outcome trial with AI (Can machine learning bring cardiovascular risk assessment to the next level?)
Last week, for ESC 2025 in Madrid, I had the chance to reconnect with this dynamic ecosystem and to rediscover why I’ve always loved it.
Since then, our team has delivered tremendous work, shaping projects that make a real difference:
EuroHeartPath → redesigning cardiovascular care pathways across Europe
APTO-EMR → using AI in EMRs to identify patients earlier and optimise treatment
CONCERTO → delivering AI-powered ECG tools to detect amyloidosis sooner
These initiatives are all about optimising care pathways, identifying patients earlier with AI, and applying digital technologies where they truly matter, creating meaningful impact for patients and health systems.
Thank to my colleagues in this cardiology venture Clara Cuervo, Anouk Veldman, Christophe Dufour, César Velasco Muñoz, Miguel Lancha Luquero, Madeleine Thun, Ryan James Bate and to all our friends and partners who trust us and make this possible.
I’m proud to be part of AstraZeneca, a company that empowers us to expand our expertise and bring innovation back to the communities we serve.”
