Fatima Cardoso Once Said: Nostalgic Throwback to 2005 – CancerWorld
CancerWorld shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Fatima Cardoso Once Said: Nostalgic Throwback to 2005
In November-December 2005, Fatima Cardoso graced the cover of CancerWorld, sharing her story as a young but already very ambitious oncologist, determined to make her mark in the world of oncology research and clinical care.
One of the powerful truths she shared in her cover story was:
“It’s also about making our voice heard now and not waiting until we’re the big shots.”
At that time, this sentiment was bold – young professionals weren’t always encouraged to take center stage.
Fast forward nearly 20 years, and that vision is now a reality. Today, the voices of young oncologists are more powerful than ever, shaping the future of cancer care, research, and innovation.
The Flims Alumni Club (FAC), co-founded by Cardoso, has been a driving force in empowering the next generation of oncology leaders. Over the past two decades, FAC has:
– Connected young oncologists from around the world
– Fostered collaboration in cutting-edge research projects
– Mentored and shaped countless careers in oncology
– Played a crucial role in advocating for young voices at the global stage of cancer care
Thanks to their efforts, the next generation of oncologists will continue to lead, collaborate, and make their voices heard, further pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in cancer research and treatment.

Yeva Margaryan, Managing Editor at CancerWorld, shared this post, adding:
“We’re bringing back our past articles, because some stories are too important to gather dust in the archives, and some insights deserve to be read again and again.
Do you like our new rubric?”
