Douglas Flora: Why Cincinnati Golf Classic Matters
Douglas Flora, Executive Medical Director of Oncology Services at St. Elizabeth Healthcare and President-Elect of the Association of Cancer Care Centers, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I wanted to reach out about something important to me – the Cincinnati Golf Classic on August 17th and 18th, benefiting the American Cancer Society. We are now just 37 days away.
Like many of you, cancer has touched my life personally. I’ve seen what families go through, and I’ve also seen the real progress that research funding can make. That’s why this event matters.
Sunday, August 17th – Dinner and Reception
We’ll kick off with a dinner and reception at Kenwood Country Club – a perfect summer evening with live music and what we call “mission moments” where you’ll hear directly from people whose lives have been touched by this work. I’ll also share a brief update on the progress we’re seeing in cancer care in 2025. It’s a chance to connect with the cause and each other in a relaxed setting.
Monday, August 18th – Golf Tournament
This is wonderful outing. We’re talking about a beautiful course, great swag, and a day that golfers look forward to all year. Whether you’re a scratch golfer or just enjoy getting out there, it’s about coming together for something bigger than ourselves.
Why This Matters Now
Cancer research is at a turning point. We’re seeing breakthroughs in immunotherapy, early detection, and personalized treatments that were unimaginable even five years ago. But promising research stops without funding. The work of the American Cancer Society has never been more important.
The ACS funds research at every stage – from lab discoveries to clinical trials. Your support helps move treatments from possibility to reality.
