Sami Mansfield: It’s Time to Redefine Cancer Survivorship
Sami Mansfield, Founder of Cancer Wellness for Life, shared a post by American College of Lifestyle Medicine on LinkedIn:
“Beyond Survival: It’s Time to Redefine Cancer Survivorship
Although it’s no longer Cancer Survivor ship Month, we cannot forget the other 11 months – the ones where survivors are doing the real work. The work of rebuilding, recharging, and redefining what it means to live well after a diagnosis.
Cancer may end treatment – but it doesn’t end its impact. Fatigue, fear, brain fog, muscle loss… they don’t disappear when treatment is over and what about our advanced cancer patients?
My new blog for the American College of Lifestyle Medicine is personal and practical. I wrote it to spotlight a truth I see every day: Survivors don’t need more generic advice – they need tools that work.
Lifesty lemedicine isn’t just nice to have – it’s essential. Evidence-based strategies like movement, nutrition, sleep, and connection can restore health, purpose, and strength long after the hospital visits stop.
Practical implementation
Support for muscle, mindset and metabolism
Language survivors and clinicians can use
Hope grounded in science
I’m grateful for the chance to share this message – and I’m inviting you to join me in this work.
If you’re a member of ACLM and passionate about cancer prevention or survivorship, consider joining the Cancer Member Interest Group or consider joining us new!
As chair, I’ve seen the power of collaboration across disciplines and roles. The future of cancer care is whole-person care—and we need all of us at the table.”
