Mahul B Amin: Honored to Contribute 11th Edition of Robbins and Cotran Pathology Textbook
Mahul B Amin, Vice President and Medical Director, Hospital Systems Operating Division at Labcorp, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I’m deeply honored to contribute once again as a chapter author to the legendary book “Robbins and Cotran: Pathologic Basis of Disease”, first for the 10th edition (2020), and now for the newly released 11th edition (May 2025). As someone who pored over these pages as a medical student in the early 1980s, and again while preparing for my pathology boards, I could never have imagined that I would one day co-author the chapter on The Lower Urinary Tract and Male Genital System, alongside my brilliant colleague and co-author, Dr. George J. Netto MD.
Few textbooks have left such an indelible mark globally on the field of medicine. It has inspired countless medical students, like me to go into pathology. First published in 1957, “Robbins” has educated generations of physicians in over 100 countries. It is globally trusted and beloved for its clarity, depth, and rigor in explaining disease from molecular mechanisms to morphologic features to clinical relevance. This 11th edition holds special meaning, not only because it reflects the ever-evolving science of medicine, but because the title now formally reads Robbins, Cotran and Kumar, a long-overdue tribute to Dr. Vinay Kumar’s decades of editorial leadership.
It’s also exciting to see the dynamic field of pathology continue to advance at a remarkable pace. This edition includes updated classifications, new concepts such the microbiome, AI in diagnostics, and greater attention to tumor-host interactions, precision medicine, and targeted therapies, signaling how we are embracing innovation while staying grounded in fundamentals. The enhanced visuals, diverse perspectives, and updated learning design make it an even more valuable resource for today’s learners.
A heartfelt thank you to the editorial team, Dr. Vinay Kumar, Dr. Abul Abbas, Jon Aster, Dr. Jayanta Debnath, and Dr. Abhijit Das, for their visionary leadership in shaping this extraordinary edition.
To be part of this book’s legacy from a lifelong student to chapter contributor is a moment filled with gratitude, humility, and joy.”
