Luchuo Engelbert Bain: Communicating Science Effectively
Luchuo Engelbert Bain, Head of International Programs at African Population and Health Research Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Communicating Science Effectively.
To meet today’s complex challenges, we must invest in science communication research that is evidence-based, context-aware, and equity-driven. To communicate science effectively, we must move beyond simply delivering facts.
The National Academies’ research agenda calls for a systems approach that aligns communication strategies with audience values, context, and goals. It challenges the flawed “deficit model” and emphasizes trust, ethical engagement, and public participation.
Amid misinformation and media noise, science communicators must adapt, learn, and collaborate to make science relevant, trusted, and actionable for society.
Only by understanding how people engage with science can we design communication strategies that inform, empower, and build trust across diverse communities.”
