Orouba Almilaji Shared IDIOM V Study on Falling GI Cancer Prevalence and PPI Use in Iron Deficiency Anaemia Patients

Orouba Almilaji, Assistant Professor in Applied Medical Statistics and Health Data at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, U. of London, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Excited to share our latest publication, a collaborative work with colleagues from the Gastroenterology department at Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, led by Dr Jonathon Snook, now featured in the Frontline Gastroenterology journal:
‘The prevalence of GI cancer in adults presenting with IDA continues to fall, strengthening the case for risk stratification and targeting of invasive investigation at those at higher risk. There were strong negative associations between GI cancer risk and long-term exposure to proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy.’ “

Title: Falling prevalence of gastrointestinal malignancy in adults with iron deficiency anaemia, and identification of additional predictive clinical variables: the IDIOM V study

Journal: Frontline Gastroenterology

Authors: Orouba Almilaji, Carla Smith, Lisa Cranham, Jonathon Snook
