Abdelali (Ali) Majdi: I’m optimistic, I’m healing, and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead
Abdelali (Ali) Majdi, The Country Medical Affairs Head at Bayer, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Following the yellow line is walking the tightrope of uncertainty – but as long as it’s there, there’s a path, and therefore, hope.
Instead of my usual “See you in Chicago” post for the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) annual meeting, I wanted to take a moment to share something more personal and express my deepest gratitude – to the team guiding my radiation therapy and care at Institut Curie and most of all, to my family, friends, and colleagues at Bayer for their unwavering support.
After several months of uncertainty, tests, re-tests, corticosteroids, and unexpected complications I was finally diagnosed with a rare cancer: orbital lymphoma. The journey has not been easy – moments of doubt, fear, and loneliness have shaped these past months. But this experience has taught me more than I ever imagined-about the power of positivity, hope, and resilience. Life may dim our vision at times-literally or metaphorically-but never our spirit.
After 20 professional years in oncology and rare diseases, I’ve witnessed extraordinary progress in understanding disease pathways and developing innovative treatments. But it’s urgent to translate these advances into tangible improvements in early detection and timely care. The fate of individuals and their families could take a dramatic turn.
Let’s continue raising awareness to reduce the diagnosis odyssey. Let’s coordinate our efforts to prevent avoidable sequela. To everyone walking this path with me: Thank you. I’m optimistic, I’m healing, and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead.
And to all the patients and families out there:
‘When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don’t be afraid of the darkWalk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you’ll never walk alone.’Wishing everyone at ASCO25 a meaningful and inspiring week. I’ll be back.”
