Jeanette Thorell: Meeting Paolo Tarantino at the Nordic Pathology Meeting

“I don’t often get starstruck at work – but this Monday at the Nordic Pathology Meeting in Stockholm was definitely an exception! The setting couldn’t have been better: a crisp spring day in beautiful Stockholm, surrounded by brilliant minds from across the Nordics, all gathered to explore the latest advancements in breast pathology and oncology.
And then – by the fika corner of all places – I had the chance to meet someone I’ve long admired in the breast cancer field: Professor Paolo Tarantino from Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Professor Tarantino was the keynote speaker of the day, and just before his session, we ended up in a spontaneous and genuinely inspiring conversation.
We touched on several hot topics in metastatic breast cancer – from the growing complexity of biomarker-driven treatment strategies to the evolving landschef for mBC. It was brief, but rich in insight and energy.Of course, I couldn’t resist asking for a selfie (who could?) – and he was kind enough to say yes!
