Tracey O’Brien: The Cancer Institute NSW’s partnership with Pink Sari to support people with cancer
Tracey O’Brien, NSW Chief Cancer Officer and CEO of the Cancer Institute NSW, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The inspirational female leadership behind the impactful work of Pink Sari Inc is a stellar example of community leaders having a profound impact on healthcare.
It was a pleasure to attend a recent celebration, along with Charishma Kaliyanda, MP Liverpool, Donna Davis, MP Parramatta and Sameer Pandey, Parramatta councillor. Through the work of Pink Sari Inc volunteers, over 900 lives have been directly touched, people living with cancer, their carers, and their loved ones. Each interaction, whether at a workshop, a home visit, or a phone call, is a powerful reminder of how compassion, cultural sensitivity, and mutual respect can profoundly improve cancer experiences and outcomes.
I believe that great cancer care is not just physical—it’s emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual. Healing and support happen when communities unite, when we embrace and respect cultural diversity, and when we acknowledge and harness community expertise and listen to the things that matter most for our rich and diverse communities.
The Cancer Institute NSW values its partnership with Pink Sari and many community groups working to support people with cancer.”
