Jonathan Justice Ndubuisi: CARIG is more than an initiative, it’s a movement born out of loss and driven by purpose
Jonathan Justice Ndubuisi, Founder of the Cancer Awareness and Research Impact Group (CARIG), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“On May 8, 2023, I received a call that changed my life forever – my beloved aunt had passed away after a difficult battle with ovarian cancer. In that moment, grief and helplessness gave rise to a burning question: ‘Why does cancer continue to take so many lives – and what can we do about it?’
That painful experience became a turning point. I began to explore the deep-rooted challenges in cancer care, especially in underserved communities – late diagnoses, limited awareness, misinformation, and systemic inequalities. I realized that beyond medicine, there was a pressing need for advocacy and research to help close these gaps.
In response, two (2) years later I founded the Cancer Awareness and Research Impact Group (CARIG) – a platform committed to raising awareness, championing health equity, and driving evidence-based cancer research. CARIG is more than an initiative; it is a movement born out of loss and driven by purpose.
Through this platform, I aim to build a passionate community dedicated to changing the cancer narrative in Africa and beyond.
As a final-year Pharm.D candidate with interests in public health and cancer research, my long-term goal is to contribute meaningfully to cancer control efforts, collaborate on impactful research, and inspire policy changes that can save lives.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you CARIG!
CARIG is my way of turning grief into action, loss into impact, and pain into purpose.
