Carolyn Ee has been appointed as Incoming PC4 Director
PC4 (Primary Care Collaborative Cancer Clinical Trials Group) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“We are delighted to introduce our incoming PC4 Director, Associate Professor Carolyn Ee.
‘I look forward to having the opportunity to provide leadership for our outstanding clinical trials group and playing a larger role in supporting the development of cancer clinical trials and primary care. Primary care plays such a crucial role in cancer care across the continuum.
I am passionate about raising awareness about our role, building our membership, increasing participation of priority population groups in our clinical trials, and strengthening and expanding collaborations’.
A/Prof Ee is an academic GP and Principal Research Fellow at NICM Health Research Institute, Western Sydney University, and Associate Professor (Cancer Survivorship and Primary Care) at the Flinders Caring Futures Institute. She is a nationally recognised emerging leader in chronic disease management in primary care.
Her program of work focuses on co-creation and evaluation models of cancer survivorship care that aim to improve and optimise patient outcomes and prioritise patient wellbeing, particularly in the areas of health equity. Her expertise spans qualitative research, multi-centre clinical trials, evidence synthesis and clinical practice guideline development and translation.
A/Prof Ee has published over 90 peer-reviewed papers and has been awarded $9.7M in research funding as a Chief Investigator, including $1.47M to lead a multi-centre clinical trial on patient navigation for culturally and linguistically diverse cancer survivors.
She is a Supportive Care GP at the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Cancer Centre in Sydney and her research has resulted in the establishment of a new academic medical centre in Sydney, a world-first Recognition of Extended Skills in general practice.
She represents general practice/primary care at policy level in cancer including as Expert Advisory Group member, Breastscreen Australia National Policy and Funding Review 2023, and Working Group Member on Blood Cancer Optimal Care Pathways.
Already a member of the PC4 Scientific Committee and Co-Lead of our Living With and Beyond Cancer Engine Room since 2021, we now welcome her appointment as PC4 Director. Carolyn will be transitioning into the role until July 2025 when she will be fully instated with Prof Jon Emery’s departure.”
