William Dale: Left my memento on behalf of the entire Geriatric Oncology community at the Mount Everest Base Camp
William Dale, Professor and Vice Chair for Academic Affairs at City of Hope, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“We made it!!” My son Xander and I made the 80-mile trek to Mount Everest Base Camp and back, through the mythical Himalayas! We stood on the iconic rock, left my memento on behalf of the entire Geriatric Onc community in honor of Arti Hurria, and scaled Kala Pattar to 18,500 ft for an amazing sunrise view of Mt. Everest.
Truly embodying the “To go far go together” mantra with our amazing colleagues, porters, and guides, we embraced the journey through the cold, thin air to our destination, and returned. We saw memorials to those who perished, visited monasteries and received karmic blessings, shared the trail with all manner of humanity and animals—truly a spiritual journey of renewal.
Doing this with my son and the support of my wife, and the blessings of my colleagues from City of Hope, Cancer and Aging Research Group (CARG), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and so many others.
Deepest thanks for the blessing to all!!!”
