Yan Leyfman: High adherence to the Mediterranean diet was linked to a 6% lower risk of obesity-related cancers
Yan Leyfman, Co-founder and Executive Director of MedNews Week, shared a post on X about a paper by Inmaculada Aguilera-Buenosvinos et al. published in JAMA Network Open:
“A new cohort study of 450K+ European adults found that high adherence to the Mediterranean diet was linked to a 6% lower risk of obesity-related cancers. Interestingly, this protective effect was independent of body weight and fat distribution.
The findings highlight the potential cancer-preventive benefits of this diet.”
