Stacey Tinianov: Confirmation hearings matter
Stacey Tinianov, Co-founder of Advocates for Collaborative Education (ACE), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“For those angered & frustrated by the ridiculousness of the now lengthy list of “flagged words and forbidden words” (including ‘female,’ ‘women,’ and ‘gender’ as well as anything having to do with diversity, equity, and inclusion) in federal grant applications and scientific publications – I’m right there with you.
For those surprised? THIS IS NOT A NEW THING.
The very same executive administration attempted it in 2017.
It was ‘only’ seven words back then (vulnerable, entitlement, diversity, transgender, fetus, evidence-based, and science-based) and HHS pushed back.
In other words, confirmation hearings matter, so I sure hope you all flooded congressional offices with calls and are still calling.”
