Fadila Kouhen: The TOFFEE meta-analysis of 2F-SBRT vs. 5F-SBRT for intermediate-risk prostate cancer
Fadila Kouhen, Associate Professor at the Cheikh Khalifa International University Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Cristian Udovicich et al. published in European Urology Oncology:
“The TOFFEE meta-analysis, published in European Urology Oncology, compared two- and five-fraction stereotactic body radiotherapy (2F-SBRT vs. 5F-SBRT) for intermediate-risk prostate cancer (IR-PC).
This analysis included individual patient data from four prospective trials, involving 199 patients and a median follow-up of 9.4 years. Results showed no significant differences in biochemical failure rates (3.6% for 2F-SBRT vs. 6.0% for 5F-SBRT), distant metastasis incidence, or patient-reported urinary and bowel quality of life.
Despite the study’s non-randomized design, it suggests that 2F-SBRT could serve as an effective alternative for IR-PC, potentially becoming a standard-of-care option.”
