Vicki Durston: Celebrating Peta Murphy’s impactful legacy, which continues to inspire us at BCNA
Vicki Durston, Director of Policy, Advocacy, and Support Services at Breast Cancer Network Australia, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“As we reflect on the year since Peta Murphy’s passing, we celebrate her impactful legacy, which continues to inspire us at Breast Cancer Network Australia.
Peta was a formidable member of the Australian Parliament, advocating tirelessly for improvements in metastatic breast cancer data to enhance patient outcomes. This was just one of the many areas where she left her mark.
Her efforts played a crucial role in raising awareness about the importance of comprehensive data reporting, particularly for those who remain invisible, contributing to significant developments like the Prime Minister’s announcement earlier this year to fund and establish the National Cancer Data Alliance.
While the recent reporting of New South Wales metastatic breast cancer data is a step forward, we remain steadfast in advancing the advocacy she championed. Peta’s dedication and leadership continue to guide our efforts, and her contributions are deeply valued within our network.
We honor her memory by continuing the important work she helped to shape.
We remember you, and we miss you dearly.”
