Arif Kamal: A fund for young adults to let them know they are not alone

Arif Kamal, Chief Patient Officer for the American Cancer Society, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Cancer is hard enough without having to worry about how you’ll buy groceries, get to a treatment, or pay rent.

And young adults with cancer face their own set of challenges. Many are uninsured or have limited health insurance compared to children or older adults.

As they go through a pivotal time of establishing independence, people in this age group often don’t know what financial resources may be available to them — and for those who are joining the workforce or are striving to do so, their financial resilience may be limited.

When you couple that with a cancer diagnosis, it can impact emotional well-being and lead to social isolation.

Along with Family Reach, we want young adults to know that we are here for them, we care for them, and they are not alone.

Learn more about the criteria and please share with those who may benefit.”
