In a post by Wafik S. El-Deiry on Linkedin, it says, “Kudos to the State of Maryland for investing tobacco settlement dollars since 2000 in cancer research at Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center and for pointing out that not all states did that.
Investing in cancer research saves lives by reducing the cancer burden in the community through the latest scientific advances.
We have been building the Legorreta Cancer Center at Brown University and The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University to impact on the cancer burden in Rhode Island.
Such an endeavor over many years requires public-private partnerships, philanthropy, government and foundation grants.”
