World Mental Health Day 2024
World Mental Health Day, celebrated annually on October 10th, provides an opportunity to spotlight the importance of mental well-being across various industries.
As conversations around mental health become more open, many sectors, including travel, corporate environments, and even indulgent foods like chocolates, are increasingly recognizing their role in promoting mental wellness. Today, we explore insights from industry leaders on how simple pleasures, such as chocolates, travel, and supportive workplaces, can positively impact mental health.
According to World Health Organization, this year’s theme of the day is ‘Mental Health at Work’.
This World Mental Health Day, WHO is uniting with partners to highlight the vital connection between mental health and work. Safe, healthy working environments can act as a protective factor for mental health. Unhealthy conditions including stigma, discrimination, and exposure to risks like harassment and other poor working conditions, can pose significant risks, affecting mental health, overall quality of life and consequently participation or productivity at work. With 60% of the global population in work, urgent action is needed to ensure work prevents risks to mental health and protects and supports mental health at work.
It is essential for governments, employers, the organizations which represent workers and employers, and other stakeholders responsible for workers’ health and safety to work together to improve mental health at work. Action to address mental health at work should be done with the meaningful involvement of workers and their representatives, and persons with lived experience of mental health conditions. By investing efforts and resources in evidence-based approaches and interventions at work, we can ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive at work and in life.
On this occasion, healthcare professionals and organizations shared on social media:
“A healthy workplace starts with healthy minds!
At Métier Groupe, we believe that creating a supportive environment is crucial for mental health. Yesterday, we celebrated Mental Health Day by inviting Dr. Anil Kumar Wadhwani, a renowned psychiatric consultant, to conduct a thought-provoking and inspiring session on mental health. Additionally, we surprised our team with a touch of nature and a motivational quote.
Let’s work together to create a mentally healthy workplace for everyone.”
“This WorldMentalHealthDay, Nasdaq is proud to join with Project Healthy Minds to convene visionaries, thought leaders, and advocates to redefine and reshape the future of mental health.

“In oncology, cancer prevention has a critical role. Today, on World Mental Health Day, let us focus also on preventing burnout of Oncology Professionals and support their wellbeing so they can also actively contribute to cancer prevention. ESMO recognises that also hashtag oncologists need to be cared for so that they can provide the best possible care for their patients.
The ESMO4Carers initiative aims to help destigmatise burnout and its connected (mental) health issues and ultimately increase awareness of the importance of oncologists’ wellbeing. Discover MedicalOncologists’ personal reflections about this crucial topic.”

“In celebration of World Mental Health Day, we at American Hospital Dubai are proud to support and prioritize the mental well-being of our incredible team members. We recognize the importance of fostering a healthy work environment, especially when navigating busy and often stressful days.
To show our appreciation and care, we’ve shared valuable tips on managing workplace stress and maintaining balance. Additionally, we’ve brightened the day by giving out thoughtful gifts as a small token of gratitude to our team—because mental wellness matters, and so does every individual who contributes to our collective success.
Together, let’s continue to support, uplift, and nurture a culture of well-being!”
“On World Mental Health Day my 3 top reframing devices:
1) disconnect outcome from self-worth (don’t punish yourself for what you can’t foresee)
2) yes, do your best (but that varies by the day)
3) be your own yardstick (don’t compare yourself to the edited version of other people!)”
