9 in 10 cases of oral cancer caused by smokeless tobacco in South-Central Asia – IARC
IARC – International Agency for Research on Cancer shared the following on LinkedIn:
“IARC study shows ~9 in 10 of all cases of oral cancer caused by smokeless tobacco and areca nut occurred in South-Central Asia, and more than 95% occurred in LMICs. In 2022, 120,000+ cases of oral cancer were caused by these risk factors.”
