Khalid El Bairi: My mentees brilliantly presented their vision for a better future in healthcare during UM6P Science Week

Khalid El Bairi posted the following on LinkedIn:

“My mentees brilliantly presented their vision for a better future in healthcare during UM6P Science Week! Though only in their second year of medical school, they have clear and achievable goals to become not only medical doctors but also leaders and researchers focused on addressing the health challenges Africa faces.

Zakini Aya discussed the impact of early exposure to research at the Faculty of Medical Sciences | UM6P-FMS to build qualified physician scientists, Amine Skouta shared his insights on the positive impact of mentorship on building future leaders, and Nicole Niyonsaba from Rwanda shared her ideas of brain circulation through intra-African mobility to limit brain drain. In addition, we also invited Aya Chawad, a brilliant PhD student who discussed how research on sleep may help address the challenges of modern healthcare, which is increasingly reliant on AI and digitalization.

All of them are being mentored to be the leaders in health and research for better outcomes in Morocco and this is happening at UM6P – Mohammed VI Polytechnic University.

We were also honored by the presence of Professor and Philosopher Ali Benmakhlouf, the director Center for African Studies (CAS) – UM6P who shared his great insightswith us. A nice event like this can’t be successful without the involvement of a great session chair like Rachid Akhmassi!

Hats off to Rachid EL Fatimy, the dean of Faculty of Medical Sciences I UM6P-FMS, who is leading innovative strategies to make research as important as daily practice.”
