“Breast Care International Donates Essential Medicines to Ghanaian Health Facilities through Direct Relief, USA.
On August 1st, 2024, Breast Care International (BCI), in partnership with Direct Relief, USA, made a significant donation of essential medicines to various health facilities in Ghana. The medicines were distributed to beneficiary institutions, with the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) playing a central role in receiving the donations. Mr. Kwaku Frimpong, representing CHAG, expressed deep gratitude to Direct Relief for their unwavering generosity, highlighting the long-standing benefits that Ghanaian health facilities have enjoyed through this program.
In his remarks, Mr. Frimpong praised Breast Care International, under the leadership of Dr. (Mrs.) Beatrice Wiafe Addai, for spearheading this vital humanitarian initiative. He emphasized the positive impact of these donations on the health and well-being of the Ghanaian people.
During the event, Dr. Wiafe Addai delivered an impassioned speech, urging authorities to grant waivers on medicines donated for charitable purposes, allowing them to reach those in need without delay. She called upon port and customs officials to assist in facilitating the smooth receipt of future donations from Direct Relief. Dr. Wiafe Addai also appealed to the beneficiary institutions to ensure that the donated medicines are provided free of charge to patients, reinforcing the mission of BCI to serve the health needs of the Ghanaian population.
The beneficiary institutions included Christian Health Association of Ghana, Bunkurugu Yooyo, Ankaase Government Hospital, Sefwi Akontombra District Government Hospital, Royal Family Hospital, Ekumfi Abor CHPS Compound, and Peace and Love Hospitals.
This donation marks another milestone in BCI’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare in Ghana, ensuring that critical medicines reach the people who need them the most.”
