Hil Moss: Cancer risk in Gen X/Millennials is both harrowing and a critical read
Hil Moss, Co-Founder/CEO of VivorCare, shared on LinkedIn about recent paper by Lindsey Bever, titled “Gen X and millennials at higher cancer risk than older generations” published on The Washington Post.
Author: Lindsey Bever
“As a young breast cancer survivor, I found today’s news about cancer risk in Gen X/Millennials (based on the most recent American Cancer Society study) both harrowing and a critical read.
This article of course outlines critical impacts on questions of screening, early detection, and more—but you won’t be surprised, given my role at OncoveryCare, that I was particularly struck by what this means for survivorship:
‘The rising rates also raise questions about what happens to younger patients in survivorship. ‘There are going to be young cancer survivors who are deeply impacted biologically, physically and psychologically from these diagnoses,’ Elizabeth Comen said. ‘And that’s going to have a ripple effect in our society that our medical community needs to be equipped to address.'”
