Craig Bunnell: My 10th Pan-Mass Challenge ride
Craig Bunnell, Chief Medical Officer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, shared on LinkedIn:
“It’s that time of year again when I reach out to seek your generous support for my upcoming Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) ride. This will be my 10th year riding.
Once again, I am asking for your sponsorship. Together, we can make a significant impact in the lives of cancer patients and contribute to the advancements in cancer research and care.
This is an extraordinary time in cancer research and care. Over my 30 years of caring for cancer patients, I have witnessed tremendous breakthroughs in cancer, many of which have been driven by the Dana-Farber. Here are a few of the ways your commitment has contributed to the Dana-Farber’s progress against cancer:
- Dana-Farber’s discovery of the PD-L1 pathway that blocks the body’s immune response to tumor cells helped to launch a new class of drugs called “immune checkpoint inhibitors” that have revolutionized cancer immunotherapy. You’ve seen these ads on TV. These checkpoint inhibitors have changed the treatment and prognoses for patients with lung, breast, kidney, bladder, melanoma, lymphoma, stomach, rectal and other cancers.
- Last year, for the first time in 20 years, a new treatment was identified for brain cancer. In a global trial led by Dana-Farber, the new precision therapy more than doubled progression-free survival.
- Of the cancers approved by the FDA in the last 5 years, the Dana-Farber has played a critical role in the development of more than half of them.
- The Dana-Farber has built one of the world’s largest clinical trials programs, with more than 1,100 active trials.
It’s no wonder that the Dana-Farber has been recognized as one of the top 3 cancer centers in the world!
To be clear, all of these accomplishments are directly related to the support by generous, committed donors like you.
One of the remarkable aspects of the PMC is its fundraising model. Every dollar raised by riders goes directly toward funding cancer care and research at the Dana-Farber. By supporting the PMC, you are making a tangible difference in the lives of cancer patients and driving the progress towards a cure.
If you are able to contribute, I ask that you consider donating by either of the following methods:
1) Directly online through the secure PMC website at the following link.
To streamline the process, my eGift ID is CB0071. The site also will allow you to use Donor Advised Funds to contribute, if that is an option for you.
2) Alternatively, you can send a check payable to “Pan-Mass Challenge” to my address listed below:

With sincere appreciation,
