Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu’s masterclass on ‘Holistic Paediatric Care and Addressing Cancer in Kids’ at Miva Open University
Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I recently had the privilege of delivering a masterclass on ‘Holistic Paediatric Care and Addressing Cancer in Kids’ at Miva Open University, Abuja.
Engaging with academia and students, I shared insights on a comprehensive approach to pediatric cancer care, including practical strategies for early detection and diagnosis.
Mentorship and cancer advocacy are close to my heart, and it was truly inspiring to see the enthusiasm of the young participants.
Miva University is one of only four licensed online universities in Nigeria. In less than one year of operations, they have enrolled over 2,000 students since September.
With approximately 1.2 million applicants annually, around 500,000 students are unable to secure a university place. Miva and the other three licensed online universities in Nigeria are filling this significant gap, providing much-needed educational opportunities.
During a tour of their facilities, I was astonished by the impressive technical and human capacity at Miva. The advanced resources and innovative infrastructure promise to make a great impact.
Vice Chancellor Tayo Arulogun expressed the university’s mission to make education accessible to everyone, regardless of background or schedule.
I see a tremendous opportunity for MEDICAID CANCER FOUNDATION and other cancer bodies to partner with Miva University in cancer awareness initiatives.
Youth represent a key group in these efforts, and we can leverage ICT-based health education to reach this generation of students. Additionally, we can offer mentorship and internships to these students, furthering their education and involvement in health advocacy.
It was a day well spent, learning, teaching, collaborating, and advancing health education.”
