Significant Psychosocial Distress Found in German Prospective Multi-Center Study
An unexpectedly high rate of 2 in 3 cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy reported clinically relevant psychosocial distress, based on a large German prospective multi-center cohort of >1000 radiotherapy patients.
Lower baseline quality of life, a lower educational level, a higher degree of income loss and a longer duration of radiotherapy (in days) correlated significantly with higher distress.
This analysis (again) demonstrates the urgent need for widespread screening and psycho-oncological interventions, and the identified risk factors may help to better select patients for support.
The current publication underlines again the great team work and resulting output by the #jungeDEGRO working group. Thanks especially to Alexander Fabian for his outstanding project coordination!
