Merck Group welcomed over 220 new apprentices to their Darmstadt site

“Our 2024 cohort of German-based apprentices will go down in history as the first to experience our new Learning Center in Darmstadt.

Welcome to you all!

“Today, we welcomed over 220 new apprentices to our Darmstadt site!

What did their first day look like?

It was an exciting start, from a welcoming speech by Thomas Koppe, Head of Apprenticeships, to a fun drumming session and an exploration of our newly opened Learning Center.

In total, we have more than 630 apprentices training with us in areas like electronics, industrial mechanics, lab technology, and business studies. Many stay with us long-term—on average, for 21 years.

Jacob Wett, one of our new International Business students, said:

‘It’s a great day to network and get to know all the other new apprentices.’

She joined the company in 2011 as Chief Operating Officer of the Biopharma business, becoming President and CEO of Healthcare in 2015.
