Rehana Sidat: Jamila’s Legacy hosted a Cancer Symposium to raise awareness and share valuable insights

Rehana Sidat, Founder and CEO of Jamila’s Legacy CIC, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Earlier this week, Jamila’s Legacy hosted a Cancer Symposium, bringing together experts and the community to raise awareness and share valuable insights. We also shared the learnings and findings from our Sukoon Project, supported by Macmillan Cancer Support.

Through this initiative, we provided culturally appropriate support for South Asian families affected by cancer, offering individual counselling, group therapy, peer support, and cancer awareness sessions.

We were honoured to have Vice Lord – Leuitenant Colonol Richard Hurwood on behalf of Mike Kapur OBE CStJ and Lord Mayor Bhupen Dave join us and share their thoughts and words of support.

Truly grateful to our Sukoon Project participants Tasneem Bahadur Ather Mirza and Jameelah Ismail for your courage in sharing your moving personal experiences. There was not a dry eye in sight.

A big thank you to all our guests working in the field of cancer for highlighting health inequities, discussing cancer outcomes, and providing valuable information, advice, and even head and neck screenings. Your contributions are truly appreciated!

Thanks to the Sukoon Project Team: Zara Majda Ahmad, Asma Seedat, Sheereen Sidat Insiya Maimoon.

Thankful to Macmillan Cancer Support Sukoon project was able to offer 120 counselling sessions and much more.

Special thanks to University of Leicester School of Business, Professor Mohamed Shaban and his superb team who always go above and beyond.

Thanks also to the JL Team especially our dedicated volunteers without whom nothing is possible. Aisha Seedat

Finally thanks to the super talented Albina Avizen for all the media content.

More media content to follow.
