Elizabeth F. Franklin: Learning about the newest science in blood cancers and disorders
Elizabeth F. Franklin shared on LinkedIn:
“Finishing out the year with a blast!
Every December the American Society of Hematology (ASH) annual meeting gives us an opportunity to learn about the newest science in blood cancers and disorders and this year didn’t disappoint with new Sanofi data in both multiple myeloma and immune thrombocytopenia. This translates to hope for patients living with these conditions.
We also get to meet with our incredible patient advocacy partners who are working everyday to improve the lives of people impacted by these conditions. There is nothing more inspiring and motivating as learning about the new ways that advocates are breaking down complex information, fighting for access to care, and supporting people who are dealing with the impacts of cancer and ITP everyday.
Another highlight of this year for me has been returning to my hometown of Lexington Kentucky where I was asked to speak about oncology navigation at the Markey Cancer Center conference. I was inspired to work in oncology by witnessing the health inequities present in my home state and I’m so grateful to be back here seeing the incredible work being done by passionate and talented Kentuckians!”
